It was a beautiful summer morning with an amazing blue sky as we started from Interlaken towards the Jungfrau region. We took a train from Interlaken Ost to Lauterbrunnen (one of the most beautiful valleys amidst the Swiss Alps with fountains and pastel green meadows). From Lauterbrunnen we took the cable car to Grütschalp. As we got down from the cable car we could see the train (Lauterbrunnen-Mürren mountain railway - BLM), waiting for us, which would take us all the way to Mürren. The whole journey from Interlaken Ost to Mürren took us ~1hour.
Breath-taking view from the Lauterbrunnen-Grütschalp cable car |
Mürren is a picturesque village on your way to Schilthorn, popular James Bond movie shooting spot, that would make you long to stay back. It is far away from the hustle and bustle of the city with lovely views of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The village is most probably car-free. As we walked through the streets, we were welcomed by postcard perfect chalets and a lovely football ground. We boarded the cable car to Birg from Mürren on our way to Schilthorn.
See below for some useful tips!

Tip 1: While boarding the train from Grütschalp towards Mürren, try to sit on the left of the train in order to get the panoramic views of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

Tip 3: Another way to reach Mürren from Interlaken is: Interlaken Ost -> Lauterbrunnen -> Stechelberg -> Gimmelwald -> Mürren. You can find more information here. We took this path while coming down from Schilthorn.
