We were lucky to experience a fairytale cruise trip on
Thun Lake (Thunersee) on a beautiful summer day with a perfect sunshine and awesome visibility. We started from
Zurich early in the morning and boarded an inter-city train to
Bern, the capital of Switzerland. From Bern, we changed train to reach
Thun. Thun is a popular port town in Bernese Switzerland where the
Aare river flows out of Thun Lake. One can see the port from the station. We took a bus to the Thun castle which is not far (~5-10 mins) from the station. The castle is nice and big. The garden surrounding the castle is full of rose plants with amazingly bright colors. You can add to it the awesome view of Thun lake which lures you to board the boat going all the way to
Interlaken.

Thun Castle, Switzerland |
While on boat, we were showered with mesmerizing views of surrounding mountains and vineyards. The lake reflected the clear blue sky and the minerals in the water gave it an amazing greenish-blue touch. We could not take our eyes away from the picture perfect castles, cloudlets playing with the peaks and roads and tunnels carved out of rocky mountains. The sun, the water, the mountains, amazing friends and beer created an unforgettable magic!
See below for some useful
tips!

Old castles |
Tip 1: Do not worry about left/right window seats while boarding the train from Zurich to Bern. You will, eventually, not care as there is nothing much to see.

Roads carved out of rocky mountains |
Tip 2: While boarding the train from Bern to Thun, try to get a window seat on the right of the train if you want to see the mountains. Do not worry if you do not find one as you will get to see enough of the mountains soon. This is just the beginning!
Tip 3: Check the bus timings in Thun. The Thun lake boats are not frequent and you do not want to miss one. We were about to miss the boat because of spending too much time at the castle and the next boat was after an hour. So we had to run. That was fun though!
